A. sound in answer, reply, rejoin, abs., A.Eu.303, S.Ant. 271, etc.; esp. answer in a loud voice, Plu.Mar.19, etc.

2. c. acc. cogn., ἀ. ἔπος utter a word in reply,S.Aj.773; “πόλλ᾽ ἀ.” Id.El.1501; ἀ. Ἔρωτας, of a lute, sound love strains in reply,Anacreont.23.9.
